Disasters can strike anywhere and anytime. National Preparedness Month — observed every year in September — serves as a reminder that everyone must take action to prepare for the types of emergencies that can affect each of us.
Being prepared for disasters is a shared responsibility. It takes the whole university community working together to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from the destructive forces of nature and other emergencies or disasters.
That's why Coastal Carolina University participates in America's PrepareAthon!, a nationwide, community-based campaign for action to increase emergency preparedness and resilience.
CCU's PrepareAthon! Day of Action will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Prince Lawn. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to come out and interact with emergency response agencies and find out learn how to build an emergency supply kit through the Emergency Kit Scavenger Hunt and win a free CCU T-shirt. There will also be opportunities for participants to perform emergency response actions, try out emergency equipment and pick up some sweet treats and free giveaways.
