Taking Summer Classes? - Important Financial Aid Information!

Students planning to attend summer school at Coastal Carolina University who are applying for financial aid must complete a Summer Financial Aid Application in addition to the 2011-2012 FAFSA.

The deadline to submit your Summer Financial Aid Application (for any summer term) is May 31, 2012.

For most students, summer aid consists of private student loans and/or Federal Parent/Graduate PLUS loans. If you are interested in these types of loans for summer studies, below are the steps you must take to ensure your loans will be processed in time for the upcoming summer semesters.

Only one Financial Aid Summer Application is needed per student.

Please note that for financial aid purposes, all summer sessions are combined into one processing term. To be considered for financial aid, you must be enrolled at least half-time. Half-time enrollment is defined as six (6) hours spread over any or all summer sessions (May, Summer I and Summer II). Qualified students enrolled in less than six (6) credits may be eligible for private/alternative loans.

Summer terms are not combined into one term for the Academic Common Market.  Per state requirements, the enrollment status for the Academic Common Market Waiver is determined according to full and part time definitions by the Office of the Registrar. Please contact Financial Aid & Scholarships with any questions at 843-349-2313.

Changes in Aid Eligibility for Summer 2012:

  • If you were Pell eligible and you used all of your eligible Pell during the fall and spring semesters, you are not eligible for Pell during the summer sessions.
  • You must be in at least 6 eligible credit hours to receive Stafford Loans during the summer sessions.
Pay close attention to courses you are repeating to ensure they are eligible! Please be aware of the annual loan limits.
