What research has led to this request?
Two items are being requested for this course 1. To remove the PUBH 121 pre-requisite and 2. To include it in the core. 1. The faculty unanimously voted to remove PUBH 121 as the pre-requisite for the course. PUBH 121 Personal and Community Health is the introduction to health content, whereas PUBH 201 Philosophies and Principles in Public Health is introduction to Skills specific to the Public Health field and doesn't have to be follow the other. 2. Including it in the core - The majority of faculty voted to include the course in the core. The benefit is that any student can now take this course and they can be exposed to the public health discipline, potentially they can discover public health early. The course is required by our accrediting body Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?
None
What financial costs are associated with this request?
None
If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?
None as faculty are already teaching the course. We will be redistributing the PUBH 121 and the PUBH 201 offerings so that current faculty will be able to teach the courses without having to add more faculty.
