ARTS 487 - Concepts in Sculpture (3 credits) (Prereq: ARTS 208 or permission of the instructor) This course will explore concepts utilizes in the contemporary sculpture, such as movement, installation, scale, function and material. Each concept will be explored through exercises, with the intent to better understand how they can be useful in self-expression. Additionally, investigation into how contemporary artists utilize these techniques will give context to the work being done in class. F, S.

ARTS 487 - Concepts in Form (3 credits) (Prereq: permission of the instructor) This course explores approaches utilized in contemporary art, such as movement, installation, scale, function and material. What research has led to this request?
The changes made to the title, prerequisites and description will accurately reflect our current materials and practices in the sculpture program. Additionally, titling the course numerically will allow students to follow the proper order of sculpture classes more easily.
What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?
By allowing a rotational course among faculty, students have the ability to take a multitude of upper level courses rooted in the 3D program. This will enable students to investigate artistic practices in a holistic setting.
