What research has led to this request?
There is a shortage of educators across the state who have credentials to teach the special education population. This course will allow students an opportunity to complete coursework required for the endorsement, which generally cannot take place during their initial teaching years due to the ADEPT process. This will make the candidates more diverse in their teaching expertise, thereby making them more marketable with these additional credentials upon graduation.
What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?
No negative impact on existing programs. It will increase collaboration between programs as students in other programs may wish to take this course.
What financial costs are associated with this request?
None
If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?
No additional department budget, equipment use or library resources are needed for this course. Course will be taught based on the availability of eligible faculty course load.
