What research has led to this request?
This course is a part of the proposed major in Sustainability and Coastal Resilience. Please see CHE proposal submitted with the degree. There is no accrediting body.
What impact will this request have on existing academic programs?
This will likely impact the number of students within the Interdisciplinary Studies major. For quite some time, students have been building degrees in this area. We expect that many of those students will find a new home within this major.
What financial costs are associated with this request?
The costs associated with offering this course are outlined in the CHE proposal for the new major. In the short term, this course can be covered by sharing resources with Interdisciplinary Studies and Honors. We have requested two new faculty lines to ensure the long-term sustainability of what we anticipate will be a fast-growing major.
If NO change in cost is anticipated, how is this possible?
