Open Educational Resources
OER Examples:
Open Educational Resources (OERs) are generally defined as materials provided at no-cost and with free and open access for usage. These may include materials such as articles, books, multimedia, tests and examinations, apps, and even entire courses. The definition of OER is evolving as these resources grow substantially in number. COOL’s training workshops on OERs will outline additional areas of OERs that may be adopted cross-discipline, as well as provide details on successfully evaluating the quality and implementation process of OERs for your courses. Coastal Online has ulitized MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching) to develop a collection of high-quality resources from a wide range of disciplines To learn more about OER's and how you may adopt them for your courses, please sign-up for the OER Training session offered by COOL. Please also view The Philosophy and Practices That Are Revolutionizing Education and Science and The Open Syllabus Project.
Faculty, if you are interested in submitting your course as OER so students can locate it, please complete the OER Adoption Form.
