Global real estate executive addresses students, professionals at CCU Real Estate Club meeting

April 27, 2018

Jana Coleman, vice president of business solutions at Leading Real Estate Companies of the World (Leading RE), was the guest speaker at the Real Estate Club of Coastal Carolina University’s (CCU) final meeting of the spring semester on Wednesday, April 18. The meeting was open to CCU students and local professionals interested in the real estate profession.

Coleman discussed the various career opportunities in nonfranchise residential real estate networks with the more than 20 students and professionals in attendance. Some of the stand-out benefits of real estate networks include branding, technology, professional growth and lead generation, she said. Coleman emphasized the diversity of employment options within these networks that can appeal to all individuals, regardless of area of study.

Leading RE's main corporate office is in Chicago, Ill., but has other corporate offices in London, Paris and Singapore, with both employees and members throughout the world. The local Leading RE member is The Litchfield Company, located on the Grand Strand. The globalized nature of real estate networks such as Leading RE provides increased career flexibility for its employees. The company also owns two additional, more specialized brands, Luxury Portfolio International and RELO Direct Inc., that can further appeal to those pursuing careers in more niche markets.

Attendees had the opportunity to speak directly with Coleman after the event, as well as Rob Salvino, associate director of the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economic Development at CCU, and Tony Grant, the major donor for the Grant Center. Many discovered ways to get into contact with Leading RE members around the world and custom-build an internship opportunity to best fit their career goals.

CCU’s Real Estate Club will continue to have regular meetings with guest speakers in the fall semester. Those interested in staying up-to-date with club meetings and events can sign up for the club's email list.

The Real Estate Club at CCU is open to students and area professionals who are interested in learning more about commercial and investment real estate. Featured guest speakers include individuals who have expertise in various fields of commercial investment and/or real estate who are invited to share their knowledge of the industry and prepare members for real estate-related careers with commercial or mortgage banks, insurance companies, private appraisal or consulting firms, real estate developers, property management firms and residential or commercial industrial brokerage offices.

The mission of the Grant Center is to support the education of its students to the highest levels of competence and professionalism and to broaden the economic base of the region, serving as the bridge between CCU and the wider community.
