Registration
- Homecoming Competition Registration opens Tuesday, October 3 at 5 p.m. and closes Tuesday, October 17 at 8 a.m.

Awards
- An overall winner will be awarded to each category (individual / small group / large group) at the Homecoming Game. A sober representative must attend the game to accept the trophy during half-time. Campus Programs and Traditions staff will contact the provided primary contact for individuals or groups prior to the game to confirm attendance.
Spirit of the Chanticleer Award
- Since 2019, The Spirit of the Chanticleer Award recognizes students who demonstrate excellence in school spirit as part of Homecoming Week. The student awarded is recognized as an individual who embodies the values of Coastal Carolina University: Truth, Respect, Integrity, Excellence. Spirit of the Chanticleer candidates must first be nominated and then complete a formal application process. We invited faculty, staff, and students to nominate outstanding individuals for this award. Nominations open Tuesday, October 3 at 5 p.m. and close Friday, October 13 at 12 p.m. Visit the Homecoming Coastal Connections page to nominate a deserving Chanticleer.
- Campus-wide voting will take place throughout Homecoming Week, running from 8 p.m. on October 23 through 11 a.m. on October 27.
Competition Events
10/23, MONDAY – Homecoming Week Kickoff
It’s the Great Homecoming Lawn Party (Pointed)
- Time & Location: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m., Prince Lawn
- Description: Come kickoff Homecoming Week with a spooky lawn party! Enjoy a haunted house, yard games, a costume competition, and fall treats. Spirit of the Chanticleer finalists announced at 7 p.m.
Teal & Bronze Faculty and Staff Wars
- Time & Location: 8 a.m., across campus
- Description: Faculty and staff are invited to decorate individual areas, offices, or departments for Homecoming Week! Areas should be fully decorated by 8 a.m. and displayed throughout the week for campus to enjoy. Judging completed by Spirit of the Chanticleer finalists on Friday! Register Here!
10/24, TUESDAY – Serving Teal & Bronze
Paint the Campus Teal (Pointed)
- Time & Location: Lib Jackson Student Union – assigned space, all day
- Description: Registered individuals or groups will be provided a designated window and floor space in the Lib Jackson Student union for Paint the Campus and Canstruct. Participants are encouraged to decorate their assigned window with provided paint materials in the spirit of Homecoming Week! Judges will review entries on Friday for competition scoring.
CCU Bleeds Teal (Pointed)
- Time & Location: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., Spadoni Park Circle
- Description: All donors get their choice of a T-shirt and a $10 e-gift card to a restaurant of their choice! To schedule your appointment please go to WWW.REDCROSSBLOOD.ORG and use Sponsor Code: Chants. Competition participants will have the opportunity to win points through volunteering, donating, or recruiting donations, please see point table and registration form.
10/25, WEDNESDAY – We ‘C U’ CCU
Canstruct Competition – (Pointed)
- Time & Location: Lib Jackson Student Union – assigned space, all day
- Description: Registered individuals or groups will be provided a designated window and floor space in the Lib Jackson Student Union for Paint the Campus and Canstruct. Individuals or groups must purchase and supply cans of food for their Canstruct design and complete their structure in the provided space. For inspiration, please visit https://www.canstruction.org/, participants are encouraged to build a creative design in the spirit of Homecoming Week! Judges will review entries on Friday for competition scoring. Post-Homecoming, all Canstruct food items will be donated to CINO Pantry.
CAB Sponsored Talent Show (Pointed)
- Time & Location: Wheelwright Auditorium, 7 p.m. -9 p.m.
- Description: See ticket purchasing portion of packet. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend this traditional event and celebrate the amazing CCU talent showcased by CAB!
10/26, THURSDAY – It's the Great Pumpkin Palooza
Pumpkin Chunkin Palooza (Pointed)
- Time & Location: Grass lot next to soccer stadium and quail creek on University Boulevard, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
- Description: Watch pumpkins sail through the sky with homemade catapults! The Pumpkin Chunkin Palooza will host three event categories: Pumpkin Chunkin Catapult, Pie Toss, and the Pumpkin Race. Participation points will be awarded to individuals or groups participating in at least ONE event. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points will be awarded to those participating in the Pumpkin Chunkin Catapult portion. Please view the registration form for Pumpkin Chunkin Catapult requirements and expectations.
Paint the Campus / Canstruct Competition – Ends
- Time & Location: Lib Jackson Student Union – assigned space, 4 p.m.
- Description: All Paint the Campus windows and Canstruct structures must be completed by 4:00 p.m. and ready for judging the following morning.
10/27, FRIDAY – Step into HOCO Weekend
Banner & Canstruct & Window Painting Competition Judging
- Time & Location: 8 a.m. - 11 a.m., across campus.
- Description: Competition judges will review banner, Canstruct, and Paint the Campus entries and score submissions for the overall Homecoming Competition per an outline provided by Campus Programs and Traditions.
Teal & Bronze Faculty & Staff Wars Judging
- Time & Location: 8 a.m. - 11 a.m., across campus.
- Description: Spirit of the Chanticleer finalists will visit registered individuals, offices, and departments to judge decorated areas per an outline provided by Campus Programs and Traditions.
NPHC Step Show
- Time & Location: 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., Wheelwright Auditorium
- Description: See ticket purchasing portion of packet. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend this traditional event and experience ‘50 Years of Hip-Hop!”
Trunk-or-Treat (Pointed)
- Time & Location: 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., YY Parking Lot
- Description: CCU Teaching Fellows is hosting Trunk-or-Treat, a community trick-or-treat initiative for friendly, spooky fun! Registered volunteers will decorate a vehicle trunk and pass out candy to roughly 300 visitors. Registered volunteers will provide their own decorations and candy. Set-up for registered event volunteers begins at 5 p.m.
10/28, SATURDAY – It’s The Great Homecoming, Teal Nation!
Homecoming Parade (Pointed)
- Time & Location: Line up begins at 7am and the parade will step off at 9 a.m.!
Homecoming Game
- Join us for the announcement of winners at half time!
