Types of Positions at CCU

Listed below are the most common positions offered at CCU. To view the Decision Tree Process form for each position type, click on the position type.

FTE Faculty (Slotted) A full-time teaching or academic administrator who occupies a FTE position that is assigned to an unclassified State title with an academic role. Examples include: Lecturer, Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, etc. Teaching Associates are considered temporary positions and are not covered under this position type.

FTE Staff (Slotted) New Position A full-time employee who occupies a FTE position that is assigned to a classified state title. Pay bands are associated with this position type. Examples include: Administrative Specialist, Student Services Program Coordinator I, Program Assistant, Applications Analyst II, etc.

FTE Staff (Slotted) Replacement Position A full-time employee who occupies a FTE position that is assigned to a classified state title. Pay bands are associated with this position type. Examples include: Administrative Specialist, Student Services Program Coordinator I, Program Assistant, Applications Analyst II, etc.

Time Limited A full-time or part time employee who does not occupy a FTE position who is hired to fill a position with time-limited project funding approved or authorized by the appropriate State authority, and who is not a covered employee. Positions are typically subject to annual renewal.

Temporary Staff (Direct Hire) A full-time or part-time non-FTE staff position created for a period of time not to exceed one year. (No search required)

Temporary Staff (Recruited Hire) A full-time or part-time non-FTE staff position created for a period of time not to exceed one year. (Search required)

Teaching Associates Any Faculty appointed to full-time or part-time positions created for purposes such as working on grants or contracts, filling in for Regular Faculty who may be absent, completing specific projects, augmenting the Regular Faculty, teaching a single semester's course offering enhancing the programs of the university with distinguished Visiting persons, and for other purposes.
