Find Your Library Liaison
Each academic program has a library liaison who provides course-integrated instruction and assistance with research and collection management. Find the liaison for your department by browsing our liaison list.
Books, videos, DVDs, scores, and other materials owned by Kimbel Library can be placed on reserve at the library circulation desk. Materials owned by faculty members can also be placed on reserve. Please see our Course Reserves form for further information.
Departments receive an allocation from the library each year for one-time purchases such as books, e-books, DVDs, realia and other materials to support the curriculum. Please see our Materials Request page to submit library purchase requests.
Faculty can request rush action on an item that is currently being processed. Please see the Rush Cataloging Request form for further information.
Interlibrary Loan and PASCAL Delivers
Student Assistant Faculty Card
Faculty members can designate a student assistant to pick up materials for them by filling out the Student Assistant Faculty Card form.
Faculty have the privilege to check out library main stacks materials for the entire semester, rather than the 21 day period for all others in the CCU community. Faculty can also check out many of the Library Use Only items for a one-day loan, such as reference materials, newspapers, magazines and journals.
Library Instruction Requests
Librarians offer instruction on a variety of topics. Instructors can schedule sessions to take place at the library or can request that a librarian give a session in-class. Details can be found on the Library Instruction Session Information page.
Faculty members can schedule a one-on-one consultation with a librarian on various research topics. Fill out the Research Appointments form to schedule a session.
Faculty have equipment checkout privileges at Kimbel Library. The library offers items for checkout, including laptops, Flipcams, digital cameras, headphones, turntables, jump drives and much more. See the Equipment Checkout page for further information.
My Library Account
View items you have checked out, renew online, see the status of any loan requests you may have, and view fines and fees on the My Library Account page.
Distance Learning Services
The library offers services to faculty teaching distance learning classes. Electronic journals, e-books, streaming video, digital collections and many other library resources are also available online to the CCU community. Streaming Video Requests
Review the streaming video requests document to learn how to obtain streaming videos for your classes. In addition, consider including a statement like this in your course syllabus:
This course requires you to watch videos that you will need to locate on your own. Where you get these videos is up to you. You may want to check the following locations:

CCU Digital Commons
CCU Digital Commons is the institutional repository of Coastal Carolina University. The IR is the place to upload faculty scholarship such as articles, presentations and research data. Videos and Tutorials
Kimbel Library has created videos and tutorials for faculty on a variety of subjects, such as how to embed library materials like subscription database articles and videos into your course management system. Learn more at the Videos and Tutorials page.
Faculty may request access to GOBI, the online ordering system through our primary book vendor, to select materials for the library to purchase. Login to GOBI, or contact the library to request a login.
Naxos Music Playlist
Naxos Music Library is a streaming audio database of classical, jazz, world and folk music. Coastal Carolina University faculty can create a playlist in Naxos for a course or an assignment. Please view the Naxos tutorial (PDF) for detailed instructions.
Kimbel Library subscribes to several streaming video databases that offer thousands of documentary films in streaming format for CCU patrons. Faculty can create class playlists simply by signing in and adding films or segments to a named list. Films or film segments can be embedded into course management software as well. To do this, find a video in our databases, click "Embed This Video," copy the URL and paste it into the course management software.

Ask the Library
Librarians and staff are available to answer your questions in a variety of ways through the Ask the Library service. Faculty members are always welcome to come to the library to ask questions in person, but the library also answers questions through live chat, text, email and phone services.
