Biography
Paul C. Peterson, professor of politics, joined the Coastal Carolina University faculty in 1982. He earned a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University, a master's degree from the University of California and a Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate School all in political science.

Peterson was named the 2004 Distinguished Teacher of the Year. He is a member of the Horry County Board of Education and a former president of the South Carolina Political Science Association.

His articles and reviews have appeared in such journals as Publius: The Journal of Federalism, The Political Science Reviewer, The John Marshall Law Review, Journal of Media and Religion, American Political Science Review, and The Review of Politics.

His areas of expertise include the original intent and design of the American Constitution, the Politics of the Civil War, the presidency, Ronald Reagan, modern judiciary/judicial activism, popular culture, American music, American film, modern liberalism and conservatism, the history and politics of public education in America, and the politics of virtue.
