Brett Simpson, assistant professor of chemistry, joined the Coastal Carolina University faculty in 2002. He earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Augustana College and a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Iowa State University.
Simpson is the adviser of the chemistry club.
His area of expertise is in the field of analytical chemistry with the main focus in the area of electrochemistry. Currently, he is conducting research to develop new electrode materials for use in various electrochemical processes. The new electrode materials have possible applications in areas such as electrochemical detection, electrochemical incineration and fuel cell technologies.
