He earned a bachelor's degree in human relations from the University of Pittsburgh in 2000, a master's degree in sociology and a doctorate degree in equality and social justice from Florida State University in 2003 and 2007, respectively.
Prior to joining Coastal, Eastman was a graduate instructor at FSU, a lecturer at Buffalo State College and an adjunct professor at Niagara University.
His research focuses on Southern rock music and how this music depicts poor, rural white men, and how social inequities across all status groupings are perpetuated through those representations. This project examines race, class, gender, culture, subcultures and the social construction of race, class and gender through cultural practices and representations.
His areas of expertise are inequality and social justice.
