Julinna Oxley, assistant professor of philosophy and director of Women's and Gender Studies, joined the Coastal Carolina University faculty in 2006. She earned a bachelor's degree from Wheaton College in 1995, a master's degree from Boston College in 1998 and a Ph.D. from Tulane University in 2006.

Oxley is a former managing editor of the journal "Politics, Philosophy, and Economics." She has presented her research at many professional conferences and is currently working on a book about ethics and empathy. Other research focuses on the role of emotions in moral deliberation. She has published articles on feminist moral and political theory and conducted research on moral education, legal theory, and woman and the family

She presented "Aging Well or Just Growing Old?: Ethics and Aging" as part of CCU's "I'm Glad You Asked" dialogue series. Oxley is co-director of the Jackson Family Center for Ethics and Values Summer Ethics Academy and sponsors CCU's Ethics Bowl team.
