Gary Stegall, associate professor of music, joined the Coastal Carolina University faculty in 1998. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts-Winston Salem in 1974, a Master of Musical Performance degree from the University of South Carolina in 1980, a Diplome/Prix excellence avec grande distinction from Academie de Boitfort, Brussels, Belgiam in 1984, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland in 1990. He has recorded a CD, "Solo Piano Music of Joseph Jongen."
His research focuses on 19th and 20th century French, Spanish, Scandinavian and Latin American composers and transitional composers between the Classical and Romantic periods.
