David Royal Kellogg
Scientific communication, the rhetoric of science, and contemporary literature (particularly poetry).

David Kellogg, assistant professor of English, joined the University faculty in 2010. He received a Ph.D. and M.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.A. in poetry from the Writing Seminars at the Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in English from Wake Forest University. He has taught at Northeastern University and Duke University. In the summers of 2010 and 2011, he was a Visiting Senior Fellow in the Department of Biological Sciences at the National University of Singapore.
After writing and publishing for several years on contemporary literature, Kellogg has more recently focused on the rhetoric of science and the teaching of scientific writing. Recent publications include "Toward a Post-Academic Science Policy," which won the 2007 NCTE award for best article in the philosophy or theory of scientific and technical communication; “The Brake of Reflection: Slowing Social Process in the Critical WID Classroom"; and “Inquiry-Based Writing in the Laboratory Course,” co-authored with Cary Moskovitz, published in Science magazine.
