Nineteenth-century Europe, modern Germany, history of women, children, and childhood in Europe

Amanda M. Brian, chair of the Department of History as an associate professor of history in 2009. She received her B.A. in History and German at the University of Indianapolis, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in History at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She has published on the emergence of developmental psychology in Germany and continues to research on the sciences of childhood in the nineteenth century. Her teaching and research interests are diverse but most often center around European imperialism.
