Spadoni College of Education
Kristal Curry is an associate professor in the Spadoni College of Education. She graduated from Tulane University in 2001 with a double major in classical studies and history. As part of her studies at Tulane, she participated in a junior-year aboard program at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome, Italy, and also joined an archaeological project uncovering a Roman site in Western Turkey.
This experience led to an interest in archaeology that Curry explored as a master's degree student in anthropology at Florida State University. During this time, she joined the faculty of Fletcher High School in Jacksonville, FL as a social studies teacher and discovered a passion for teaching. While teaching full time, she earned an M.Ed degree from the University of North Florida.
In 2006, she made the difficult decision to quit teaching high school to enroll full-time as a doctoral student in Indiana University studying curriculum and instruction with a specialty in social studies education. She earned her doctorate in 2010 and was fortunate to begin her dream job as MAT social studies adviser at Coastal Carolina University that fall.
Curry now loves to balance her career as a Teacher Educator and Assessment Coordinator of the Spadoni College of Education with her home life as a loving wife and mom to two beautiful children, Brianna and Connor.
