Kyle J. Holody earned bachelor's and master's degrees in communication from Virginia Tech and a Ph.D. in media & communication from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
Holody teaches Health Communication, Communication Research Methods, Communication Capstone: Thesis and Media Effects.
His research interests include examining media effects related to controversial health topics. Specifically, he has examined how physician-assisted suicide, abortion and school shootings have been framed by the media, advocacy groups and the public.
Additionally, Holody has studied media use across different types of media (e.g., newspapers, new media, mobile media) and examined communication in interpersonal, international, and intercultural contexts. He is also practiced in various method and statistical techniques.
Holody lives in Myrtle Beach with his wife and his dog, Roby.
