Biography
Emalee Quickel, assistant professor of psychology, earned a Ph.D. in clinical health psychology from UNC Charlotte in 2014. She completed an APA-accredited clinical internship at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and is licensed to practice psychology in North Carolina as a Licensed Psychological Associate. She earned her M.A. in clinical psychology with a specialization in Substance Abuse Treatment from UNC Wilmington in 2009. Her research and clinical interests include areas in which psychology and law overlap, such as civil competency decisions, how clinical decisions inform legal judgments, victim impact statements and advance directives. She has additional interests in mindfulness research, mindfulness and acceptance-based clinical interventions, addiction, dually diagnosed individuals and borderline personality disorder.
