Holley Tankersley's areas of expertise include public policy, social policy (health, education, welfare, family), state and local government and politics, the U.S. presidency, judicial politics, service learning and civic engagement in liberal arts education.
Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts
Holley Tankersley, Associate Professor of Political Science, joined the Coastal Carolina University faculty in 2006. She serves as Associate Dean of the Edwards College.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Birmingham-Southern College in 1999, a master's degree in public policy from Georgetown University in 2002, and a Ph.D. in political science and public policy from the University of Georgia in
Tankersley has been published in several political science journals, including Political Research Quarterly and the Journal of Political Science Education, and has presented her work at multiple conferences. Her research is focused on the ways in which institutions at both the state and federal levels shape public policy outcomes. She has a particular interest in presidential politics and state politics.
She spent several years working as a government consultant with Andersen LLP. Her clients included the U.S. Navy, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Treasury.
