Sara A. Brallier, professor of sociology, joined the Coastal Carolina University faculty in 2000. She earned a bachelor's degree in 1994, a master's degree in 1996 and a Ph.D. in 2001, all in sociology from the University of Buffalo.
She teaches introductory sociology, sociology of religion, sociology of aging, sociology of death and dying, and research methods for the social sciences. Her research is primarily focused on the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has published several articles and presented more than a dozen papers on her research comparing learning outcomes of students in web-based courses to those in traditional lecture based courses.
Her areas of expertise include families and aging, family demography, medical sociology, the sociology of aging, gerontology and distance education.
