David A. DeCenzo became president of Coastal Carolina University in 2007. He joined the University in 2002 as dean of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Maryland College Park and a master's degree and Ph.D. from West Virginia University.

The college also established significant internship opportunities locally, nationally and internationally in major Fortune 100 companies. As Provost, DeCenzo worked with faculty leadership to pass a revised general education core curriculum; as well as institute a minimum salary level for faculty members of the university.
He has co-authored two management textbooks, "Fundamentals of Management: Essential Concepts and Applications" and "Supervision Today: the Ultimate Guide to Front-line Management."
Before joining Coastal, he served as director of partnership development in the College of Business and Economics at Towson University. He is an experienced industry consultant, corporate trainer and public speaker.
