Craig Gilman, associate professor of marine science, joined the Coastal Carolina University faculty in 1994. He earned a bachelor's degree in physical oceanography from Cook College and a master's degree and Ph. D. also in physical oceanography, from the University of Rhode Island.
Gilman completed a faculty fellowship at NASA's Langley Research Center and is campus director of the South Carolina SpaceGrant. Through funds from NASA, he helped establish the environmental science minor program in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences at Coastal.
His areas of expertise include physical oceanography, meteorology, hurricanes, climate change, and the Gulf Stream.
