Tenor and Two Guitars presented by Artrageous series
Tickets are $10 adult general admission and $5 for students, seniors and military, available at the door, at the Rice Museum or at the Cultural Council of Georgetown in the Litchfield Exchange.
The concert is part of the Artrageous Engagement Series, a season of performing arts events for Georgetown County, co-sponsored by Coastal and the Rice Museum.
Bankston and Yoder will play songs from the popular American songbook as well as acoustic folk music and some original tunes.
Both musicians have produced their own CDs, teach music at Coastal, and are devoted guitarists.
Bankstons teaches voice to students at Coastal and has had tenor roles in opera, concerts and musical theater. He has performed at the Houston Grand Opera, Washington Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, New Orleans Opera and on many other stages. But his avocation is playing, singing and writing his own brand of blues-folk-rural American tunes. His CD, Galvez Town, released in 2002, features such original songs as Bittersweet and Blue, Red River Romance and the title cut, Galvez Town.
Yoder studied guitar at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, as well as Shippensburg University and the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT). His 1999 CD, Eat This Its Safe, is made up of original acoustic tunes. His music is frequently heard on National Public Radio on Walter Edgar's Journal and All Things Red.
The Artrageous Engagement series is coordinated by Sandi Shackelford, a performing arts professor at Coastal, and Jim Fitch, director of the Rice Museum in Georgetown. Upcoming events in April include Still Life With Iris, a play for children of all ages and Body Language, an evening of dance, also in April.
