Rising folk-rock singer to perform at Coastal Carolina

Recording artist Julie Loyd, a young singer-songwriter who is gaining attention for her innovative fusion of folk, pop and rock, will perform Wednesday, March 22 at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at Coastal Carolina University.

Loyd, 24, was recently singled out by Performer Magazine as “an artist to look out for.” Based in Chicago, she has released three CDs (“Waiting Room,” “Self Portrait #94” and “Fate Says He’s Sorry”) and is now recording concert footage for an upcoming live DVD. She began her touring career at age 20 in Asheville, N.C. and has performed with such artists as Shawn Mullins, G-love, Special Sauce and Chris Barron, formerly of the Spin Doctors.
