CCU Theater presents 'Forever Plaid' musical

September 7, 2006

The Coastal Carolina University Theater production of "Forever Plaid" opens Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Wheelwright Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. and continues through Sunday, Sept. 24. Tickets are $12 general adult admission and $8 for alumni and senior citizens and may be purchased at Wheelwright Box office.

The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. nightly from Wednesday through Friday and at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Based on the book by Stuart Ross, "Forever Plaid" tells the story of four young, eager male singers killed in a car crash in the 1950s on the way to their first big concert. Miraculously revived, they are given the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that they never made it to. Singing in the closet of harmony, squabbling boyishly over the smallest intonations and executing their charmingly outlandish choreography with over-zealous precision, the "Plaids" a smash hit, with a program of nostalgic pop hits from the 1950s.

Gregory London, assistant professor of theater at CCU, will direct the play. Cast members include Jonah Bowles as Jinx, Dominic Sellers as Sparky, Joe Rosko as Francis and Kirk Johnson as Smudge.
