CCU Lifelong Learning to offer birding expeditions

September 8, 2006

Coastal Carolina University's Lifelong Learning program will offer four Saturday birding outings at Hobcaw Barony led by avian researcher and birding columnist Gary Philips of The Sun News.

Students will join Phillips on an early morning trek into the deep recesses of the 17,500 acre research reserve for a look at fall migration and habitats along the flyway. These tours will give novices and experienced birders an opportunity to learn about our permanent and migratory feathered residents. Wear long pants and sleeves; bring binoculars, water and bug spray.

Birding dates include Sept. 16, 23 and 30, and Oct. 14, from 7 to 11 a.m. Each tour is $25 per person. Advance registration is required. To register or request a fall catalog of all Lifelong Learning offerings, call 349-4001 or 349-4030, or visit www.coastal.edu/outreach.
