Tennessee author Darnell Arnoult will visit Coastal Carolina University on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. for a reading and signing of her new book, "Sufficient Grace." The reading, which will be in Wall Auditorium, is free and open to the public.

"Sufficient Grace" is the story of one woman's journey of transformation and love that affects many lives in two Southern towns. Putting her own family - a husband and daughter - and her old identity behind her, she is taken in by an African-American household headed by Mama Toot and Mattie, two strong and accomplished women going through life changes of their own. Gracie begins to paint enormous pictures, first of Jesus and then of angels and fairies, and both families must adapt to Gracie's new self and new calling.

Arnoult is also the author of "What Travels With Us," a collection of poetry published by Louisiana State University Press that won the Appalachian Studies Association's Weatherford Award and was a finalist for the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) Poetry Book of the Year. Arnoult's work has appeared in a variety of journals including Nantahala Review, Southern Cultures, Southwest Review and Southern Exposure. She teaches creative writing and is working on a second novel and a new book of poetry.

She lives in Brush Creek, Tenn., with her husband, three horses, two goats, two cats and five dogs.
