Coastal's Pop 101 goes 'Back to the '80s'

Pop 101, Coastal Carolina University's contemporary music ensemble, will present a "Back to the '80s" concert on Monday, Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium.

General admission is $8 and admission for alumni, senior citizens and Lifelong Learning members is $6; children 18 and under are free. Tickets for the performance must be picked up from Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Coastal's 10-musician ensemble will perform a variety of songs from the 1980's. The concert will be preceded by a trivia slideshow with famous '80s faces. Featured artists will include Bon Jovi, Journey, Talking Heads, Madonna, Billy Idol, The Bangles, Pat Benatar, Robert Palmer and Huey Louis and the News.

Concertgoers are encouraged to dress appropriate to the '80s theme; a fashion show will be held during intermission.

Dan O'Reilly, a teaching associate at Coastal who performs in various bands and orchestras around the Grand Strand, directs Pop 101.
