In Christian Faure’s 2005 film, a young Jewish girl seeks to escape notice of the Third Reich after witnessing her parents’ and sister’s brutal slaying as they attempted to make their way to England. She is sheltered by a man whose status as a member of the “third” sex soon leads to the Gestapo pounding on his door. Betrayed by a smuggler, terrified Sara flees into the comforting care of childhood summer vacation friend Jean and his lover Philippe. Though safe for the moment, Sara watches as her homosexual protector is forced into a Nazi labor camp.

Following the screening, a faculty member in CCU’s Department of History leads a discussion on the film’s cultural and historical context.
