Ranky Tanky
Sunday, Sept. 16, 4 p.m.
South Carolina natives Quentin Baxter, Kevin Hamilton, Charlton Singleton and Clay Ross first came together in 1998 to form a Charleston Jazz Quartet. Now, united by years apart and deeper understanding of home, these accomplished artists have come together again, joined by vocalist Quiana Parler, to form Ranky Tanky. This band brings to life the soulful songs of Gullah culture, blending Lowcountry traditions with large doses of jazz, gospel, funk and R&B.

Ranky Tanky released its eponymous debut album in October 2017, and by December of that year it had reached the top of the Billboard, Amazon and i-Tunes jazz charts. The band has been featured on NPR programming “Fresh Air with Terry Gross” and “All Things Considered” as well as online publications Afropop Worldwide, Downbeat and Songlines Magazine. This concert is a stop on Ranky Tanky’s nationwide tour.
