Applications due: Distinguished Honors Faculty Fellowship Bookmark and Share

This past February, the Board of Trustees approved the founding of the new Honors College. This College seeks to exemplify CCU’s commitment to high-quality teaching and engaged learning. Central to our mission, we would like to work in partnership with faculty and staff across the institution to ensure that honors students have a high-impact and enhanced experience. 

Faculty members are invited to apply to become the inaugural Distinguished Honors Fellow.

This position is a two-year commitment and requires that a faculty member take a leave from their home departmental responsibilities for the period of the fellowship. The Distinguished Honors Fellow works in the Honors College and develops innovative new courses, work on honors initiatives, or offer students unique honors experiences. In addition, the Distinguished Honors Fellow would be expected to participate in the growth and life of the new Honors College. The position would come with one course reassignment per academic year and a $2,000 professional development stipend.

Supported by the Student Achievement Funding initiative, the home department of the Distinguished Honors Fellow will be able to conduct a national search for a Visiting Assistant Professor or a Teaching Post-Doctoral Fellow to cover departmental needs for the two-year period of the fellowship.

The timeline for this new initiative is as follows:

September 12, 2018: Applications are due
September 21, 2018: Final decision/Announcement
October 2018: Search for Visiting Assistant Professor begins
August 16, 2019: Formal two-year appointment begins for both the Distinguished Faculty
Fellow in the Honors College and the Visiting Assistant Professor in the home department.

Include in your letter your proposals for new areas of exploration and opportunities for Coastal honors students. Consistent with Strategy 3, Goal 1 in the CCU Strategic Plan, this position offers an opportunity to better foster a community of engaged scholars, recognition of contributions and successes, as well as resources for professional development.
