Flute Music by African-American Composers Bookmark and Share

Flutist and visiting artist James Miller gives an afternoon concert of selections by African-American composers including Valerie Coleman, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Adolphus Hailstork. Miller currently serves as a flutist in The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” in Washington, D.C.

Miller is an active soloist, chamber musician and clinician in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., and has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician in England and South Korea. He earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of South Carolina, his Master of Music from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and his artist diploma from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts; he is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
