Pushing the Limits with Steve Bailey, featuring Victor Wooten and Greg Bissonette Bookmark and Share

Nov 30

7:30 p.m. @ Wheelwright Auditorium

Steve Bailey, bassist and CCU artist-in-residence, performs with award-winning bassist Victor Wooten and drummer Greg Bissonette, both guest artists. Matt White, associate professor, and Tim Fischer, assistant professor, from CCU’s Department of Music, round out the ensemble for an evening of eclectic and high-energy jazz. The performance also includes world-premiere selections from the CCU Jazz Ensemble, directed by White.

Bailey, noted for his pioneering work with the six-string fretless bass, is chair of the bass department at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Wooten, a multiple Grammy Award-winner, author and a founding member of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, has been called the most influential bassist of the last two decades. Bissonette’s versatility on the drums is reflected in his experience with big band, blues, rock, Latin, fusion and many other music genres. Bissonette played on Santana’s multi-platinum album Supernatural (1999), which won eight Grammy awards.
