The 50th Anniversary of the Pan-African Festival of Algiers Bookmark and Share

Hamza Hamouchene will deliver a lecture on the historic 1969 Pan-African Festival of Algiers, a music and dance festival that celebrates postcolonial African nations. The festival called for equal liberation for the remainder of the continent and brought a global spotlight on African culture and arts. Hamouchene is an Algerian campaigner, writer, researcher and founding member of the London-based Algeria Solidarity Campaign (ASC), an organization campaigning for peaceful democratic change in Algeria, as well as Environmental Justice North Africa (EJNA), which advocates for environmental and climate justice in North Africa. He earned a Ph.D. in environmental carcinogenesis from the Institute of Cancer Research, University of London.
