Qatar: Gulf Crisis One Year on- What's Next for Qatar Bookmark and Share

Feb 20

5 p.m. @ The Coastal Theater

In June 2017, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed their ties with Qatar and imposed a full blockade, accusing the nation of supporting terrorism. This Al Jazeera news special, broadcast in June 2018, features in-depth reports on how Qatar has reinvented itself over one year to overcome the effects of the blockade. It also explores relationships between the United States and Arab states of the Persian Gulf. Joseph Fitsanakis, associate professor in the Department of Politics, and Samih Baalbaki, instructor in CCU’s OLLI program, lead a discussion on the political context of the film.
