S.A.F.E. Response to Violence Bookmark and Share

May 3

9 a.m. @ Atheneum Hall Room 105

The S.A.F.E. response to violence is an easy way to remember the actions that need to be taken in any given situation that threatens the personal safety of a member of the Coastal Carolina University community. S.A.F.E. stands for Secure, Alert, Fight, Escape. The S.A.F.E. method is meant to empower individuals during a threatening situation and equip them with ideas and knowledge of what to do in dangerous situations by proactively providing a plan of action. This one-hour session is provided by Coastal Carolina University Department of Public Safety officers who have extensive knowledge in the areas of both law enforcement and civilian response to active shooters or armed aggressors. The session will be a mixture of both presentation and audience participation exercises that help promote the S.A.F.E. response to violence model. Trigger Warning: Active Shooter training may contain disturbing themes and images that could trigger traumatic memories and/or reactions for certain individuals. Training content includes guns, gunfire and simulation exercises with audience participation. If needed, you are responsible for contacting the Office of Training, Development and Service Excellence for alternative training options, and for notifying your supervisor.
