UNCANNY will be on view will be on view from Oct. 21 through Nov. 26. The public is invited to a reception on on Thursday, Oct. 28, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The exhibition is based on Sigmund Freud's 1919 essay "The Uncanny" and explores the manifestation of Freud's ideas in the work of four contemporary sculptors: Lasse Antonsen, Cal Lane, Jen Raimondi and Susannah Strong. Generally speaking, Freud's uncanny experience is the uneasy feeling when something familiar becomes strange. Exhibition curator Cynthia Farnell says,

"...While Freud details several categories of uncanny experiences in his text, I'm primarily interested in his notion of the uncanny as it related to the visual arts."
