An affectionate paean to Smalltown U.S.A. of a bygone era, this musical follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. The Music Man is a Broadway classic that employs comedy, romance, fast-talking flim-flam, high-energy dance and, of course, spectacular musical numbers to create a joyous slice of Americana. The Music Man will send you from the theater with a smile on your face, a spring in your step, and whistling, humming, or outright singing its best-known song, “Seventy-Six Trombones.”
