"The Electricity Fairy" film

The Electricity Fairy is a documentary that examines America's national addiction to fossil fuels through the lens of electricity. The film follows the story of a proposed coal-fired power plant in the mountains of southwest Virginia, connecting the local controversy to the national debate over energy policy. Current issues of coal mining, mountaintop removal, conservation, etc., are woven into the film. A meet-and-greet with the filmmaker, Tom Hansell, will follow the program.
The 2010-2011 Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers is a program of South Arts. This screening is supported in part by an award from National Endowment for the Arts.
