Can Religious Faith be Rational, Given the Evils of History?

Robert Audi, John A. O'Brien Professor of Philosophy
    Monday, March 17, 4:30 p.m.
    James J. Johnson Audotorium

According to classical theism, God is all-powerful, all-knowing and perfectly just. If God as traditionally understood exists, why didn’t he prevent the Holocaust? How could he allow natural disasters, such as the 2011 Japanese tsunami, which destroy millions of innocent lives? For centuries, philosophers and theologians have struggled to answer these questions. In this talk, Robert Audi, the John A. O’Brien Professor of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, will give these ancient questions a fresh look.
