Christy Mag Uidhir, a philosopher from the University of Houston, discusses the cinematic practice of actor-character race- mismatching, from the historically infamous to the intuitively repugnant. Focusing on the untruths and unrealistic portrayals of race, he argues that such film fictions are aesthetically, epistemically and morally defective.
