9 a.m. to 5 p.m. gallery hours @ Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery

Artist Michael Dickins will display his “PreOccupied” art exhibit in the Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts through Saturday, June 28. This event is free and open to the public.

Dickins joined the USC Upstate faculty in the summer of 2011 as the manager of the Performing Arts Center Box Office and the Curtis R. Harley Art Gallery.

“PreOccupied” refocuses attention on ongoing conflicts and uprisings around the world through a series of interactive videos and drawings. Dickins critiques how American mass media fails to cover ongoing civil strife in Greece, Libya, Syria, Egypt, Bahrain and New York.

Dickins is an interdisciplinary artist whose work is created with a variety of media including photography, printmaking, drawing, installation, sound and video. He balances both digital and material processes, allowing him to create pieces that are both expressive and engaging. Dickins earned a B.F.A. in photography from Georgia Southern University and an M.F.A. in interdisciplinary arts from Goddard College.

The Rebecca Randall Bryan Art Gallery is in room 129 in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at 133 Chanticleer Drive E. on the Conway campus. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
