Vice President for Student Success, Enrollment Management, and Student Affairs
James Solazzo, Ph.D., was named vice president for student success, enrollment management, and student affairs in June 2021. Solazzo served as associate provost/director of the Academic Resource Center from 2020-2021, and as associate provost for assessment and accreditation from 2017-2020. He also served as chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics from 2012-2017. He joined the Coastal Carolina University faculty as a professor of mathematics in 2004.
Solazzo’s passion for student success started in the classroom by giving his students a lot of encouragement as well as the confidence and tools they need to pass his courses. Now, his focus is on student success across the university by making data-driven decisions to determine where student resources are needed, developing programs that promote timely degree completion, and revising university policies and processes to remove unnecessary barriers.
A native of Oswego, New York, Solazzo resides in Conway with his wife and daughter.
