A message of sympathy from the President

Oct. 29, 2018

The Coastal Carolina University community is shaken and saddened by the horrific killings that took place Saturday at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. We send our sympathy to this grieving community and share in the national mourning for the precious lives that have been lost so tragically in this reprehensible act of violence and anti-semitism.

When innocent people are targeted based on their faith, we must all stand in solidarity for the core values of diversity and inclusion – key principles of our University. These values stand in direct opposition to the evil beliefs of those intent on spreading hatred and fear.
Foremost in our hearts at this time are our fellow students, faculty and staff members of the Jewish faith, as well as those who are from the Pittsburgh area. Support is available to all CCU students through the Office of Counseling Services at 843-349-2305. Employees who need assistance can find help through the Life Services EAP. Contact the Office of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity for more information at 843-349-2036.
