Mark Roach has served as Vice President for Philanthropy at Coastal Carolina University since November 2013. He manages a staff of 25 people, and his areas of responsibilities include academic fundraising, the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation, the Office of Alumni Relations, and Women and Philanthropy in Leadership.
He is also spearheading I’M IN – The Endowment Campaign for Coastal Carolina University. Publically launched in April 2016, the campaign’s goal is to increase the University’s endowment by $20 million by 2020. The new funds will support student scholarships and academic excellence.
Roach previously served for six years as the executive director of the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation, CCU’s athletic booster organization. He was also CCU’s senior associate athletic director from 2003-07. Before joining the University in 2002, he was coordinator of athletics and physical education for South Carolina’s Horry County Schools. He was also Carolina Forest High School athletic director, head baseball coach at Socastee High School and Sumter High School, and head baseball/basketball coach at Wilson Hall in Sumter.
A native of Doraville, Ga., Roach earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from CCU in 1984 and a master’s degree in sports management from the U.S. Sports Academy in 1993.
