Time: | | Officer: | Cavallini | Type: | Gun shots heard - unlawful carry of a handgun, open container in a vehicle. | Location: | 1783 Barberry Drive | Description: | While on patrol a CCU DPS officer observe the sound of gunshots off campus and responded to the area of Barberry Drive. The officer stopped the subject vehicle as it was attempting to leave the area. The driver was interviewed away from the vehicle and admitted to observing the sound of gunshots and to possessing a handgun which was located in the vehicle. The passengers were removed from the vehicle and the vehicle was searched. An open container and another firearm were discovered during the search. The contraband was seized. No one claimed possessing of either of these items. The driver was transported to the Horry County Detention Center and a hold placed until a warrant could be sought. The vehicle was released to a sober licensed driver.
08/06/17 One of the passengers contacted CCU DPS and admitted to possessing the second firearm. It was confirmed that the passenger purchased the firearm legally. |
