What is a Faculty Absence Alert?

A Faculty Absence Alert serves as a process to connect with students that have two (2) consecutive absences in a 100 or 200 level class. After a faculty member has made a first attempt to make contact (via phone and/or email) with the student following two (2) consecutive absences, a Faculty Absence Alert may be completed.

Beginning Fall 2019, the Dean of Students Office will only submit an informational email to students following a Faculty Absence Alert. This email will notify students that an alert was submitted, and will review CCU’s Attendance Policy, semester withdrawal, and corresponding deadlines. Following the submission of this email, our office will cease contact and the referral will be documented. These adjustments to the Faculty Absence Alert process are being made as the University adopts Beacon, the Campus Labs student success module, as a method for reporting academic progress.
